# Demo and validation assets

Initial assets retrieved 3 October 2026 from the [pinned scikit-image v0.25.2 data directory](https://github.com/scikit-image/scikit-image/tree/v0.25.2/skimage/data). Reuse statements checked in [primary project documentation](https://scikit-image.org/docs/stable/api/skimage.data.html).

| File | Credit / reuse basis | Purpose |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `astronaut.png`, 512 × 512 | NASA, Eileen Collins portrait; public domain, as documented by scikit-image. [Original referenced record](https://flic.kr/p/r9qvLn). | Skin, white fabric, reds and deep shadows. This is a reference photograph, not Olympus/Camp Snap output. |
| `coffee.png`, 600 × 400 | Rachel Michetti, Pikolo Espresso Bar; photographer released CC0. | Warm indoor light, saturated red, white ceramics, specular highlights. |
| `rocket.jpg`, 640 × 427 | SpaceX; public domain, as documented by scikit-image. [Original referenced record](https://www.flickr.com/photos/spacexphotos/16511594820/in/photostream/). | Evening sky, dark scene and small bright lights. |
| `chelsea.png`, 451 × 300 | Stefan van der Walt; photographer released CC0. | Held-out fur/color/detail scene. Not shown in candidate-development demo selector. |
| `color-study.png`, 1280 × 800 | Generated with ordinary drawing code for this lab. | **Synthetic fixture**, not a photograph: neutral and dark ramps, skin-like/green/blue/saturated patches, flash-like arrangement. Does not prove natural-skin or flash rendering. |
| `forest-walk.jpg`, 960 × 1280 | [Jojovavasasa, Forest walk 05](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Forest_walk_05.jpg), own work, CC0 1.0. Retrieved 3 October 2026. | Natural woodland shade, bright sky gaps, foliage and red/brown leaves. Wikimedia thumbnail, stored unchanged; untagged assumed sRGB. Original metadata declares sRGB, no flash. Source foreground blur is capture context; app does not create or repair it. |
| `flash-portrait.jpg`, 1179 × 1473 | [Minipipo, Portrait Walter Gabriel](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Portrait_Walter_Gabriel.jpg), own work, CC0 1.0. Retrieved 3 October 2026. | Compact-camera flash portrait, bright skin, saturated green shirt, blue background. Original JPEG stored unchanged with sRGB ICC. Metadata records flash fired, auto mode; no controlled evidence of exact flash placement or a Camp Snap match. |
| `portrait-heldout.png`, 960 × 1279 | [Andrew Keller, Portrait de Janvier Yahouedeou](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Portrait_de_Janvier_Yahouedeou.png), own work, CC0 1.0; permission confirmed on source page. Retrieved 3 October 2026. | Held-out portrait, darker skin, dark fabric, red/gold detail. Wikimedia thumbnail with Adobe RGB (1998) ICC, stored unchanged. Absent from demo selector. Previously held out; examined while refining010 skin color, so not an unseen holdout for that revision. Source EXIF records flash; portrait lighting differs from compact-camera direct flash. |
| `outdoor-squirrel.jpg`, 960 × 720 | [Martin Thoma, Squirrel-6](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Squirrel-6.jpg), own work, CC0 1.0. Retrieved 3 October 2026. | Squirrel and greenery in Central Park, photographed at noon; source EXIF records flash fired. Wikimedia thumbnail unchanged and untagged, assumed sRGB; original EXIF declares sRGB. Capture softness/noise and flash eye highlight are in the source; no Olympus or Camp Snap claim. |
| `daylight-portrait.jpg`, 960 × 640 | [Morgan Sessions, Sunlight welcomes blonde girl](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sunlight_welcomes_blonde_girl_(Unsplash).jpg), CC01.0 historical pre-June2017 Unsplash publication; Commons file uploaded11May2017. Retrieved3October2026. | Backlit arm/skin, warm sun/flare, grass and already clipped sky. Unchanged Wikimedia thumbnail with sRGB ICC. Face is hidden; this is not a frontal-skin/camera-calibration sample. Source look/capture effects remain. |
| `zebras.jpg`, 780 × 1040 | [Nkunda102, Group of zebra](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Group_of_zebra.jpg), creator own-work CC01.0. Retrieved3October2026. | New animal/stripes/grass/cool distant sky evaluation source. Original116,453-byte JPEG unchanged; untagged assumed sRGB. Phone softness/compression/watermark already present, not created/repaired by app. In evaluation sheet only; no Olympus claim. |
| `Figtree.ttf` | Erik Kennedy, SIL OFL 1.1; accompanying `Figtree-OFL.txt`. | Local interface font. |
| `sRGB.icc` | Generated by Pillow ImageCms / LittleCMS from its built-in sRGB profile on 3 October 2026. | Export fallback profile; not sourced from a camera or proprietary look. |

No private photos, copyrighted Camp Snap reference photographs, generated replacement photographs or scraped gallery assets are packaged. Test fixtures are disposable and generated into ignored `test-output/`; screenshots depict transformed demo photographs, with the above source credits.

Byte hashes and download decisions were recorded on the original job branch, `codex/weekend-photography-2026-10-03` (`experiments/asset-provenance-004.json`). The public-domain Louis F. Sander **ForestEdge.jpg** reference was inspected but excluded: its actual JPEG declares uncalibrated EXIF without an ICC profile, and the app correctly refuses it. No guessed color assignment or packaged converted copy.
